Vanessa from Moore Belgium
Moore Belgium has expanded its advisory services by integrating sustainability services into its broader offering. In this interview, Vanessa Daelman shares why Moore Belgium made this move, how they selected the best fit carbon accounting software, and what the future of sustainability reporting looks like according to Moore Belgium.
Highlights from the interview:
- Why Moore Belgium entered the carbon accounting market as part of its sustainability services.
- Key criteria for selecting a carbon accounting software solution.
- How Carbon+Alt+Delete empowers consultants and clients alike.
- The importance of transparency, auditability, and collaboration.
Why Moore entered the carbon accounting market
“For us, carbon accounting became an essential part of our ESG and sustainability services,” says Vanessa Daelman. “Our customers were already looking at sustainability, and it quickly became clear that carbon accounting was one of the main focus areas. We want to guide clients towards a sustainability strategy in line with CSRD, VSME and other frameworks. Instead of outsourcing this, it made sense to integrate carbon accounting into our own services. It increases efficiency and ensures everything is part of one holistic exercise where we can grow together with our clients.”
Criteria for choosing the right software
Moore Belgium never considered developing their own carbon accounting tool. With their data science sister company element61, they started screening many different software solutions. “We looked at everything from user-friendliness and accessibility to technical robustness and auditability,” Vanessa explains.
While Moore Belgium offers complete carbon accounting services, element61 focuses more on the data management part. For that it was important the software could support all companies from SMEs to multinationals, with a central role for data management. “For SMEs and mid-market clients, it must be practical, easy to understand, and affordable. At the same time, it must be reliable enough to stand up to auditing the big companies. Carbon+Alt+Delete ticked all those boxes.”
How Carbon+Alt+Delete supports Moore’s consultants
With the team of Carbon+Alt+Delete we immediately clicked and appreciated the strong service culture from day one. This felt very aligned with the service we provide at Moore Belgium. “The tool empowers both our consultants and our clients. SMEs like to keep control and do part of the work themselves, it reduces costs and increases engagement between the parties. Carbon+Alt+Delete makes that possible.” Vanessa notes.
She adds: “Other big benefits of this partnership are the business model and the auditability. Carbon+Alt+Delete positions consultants at the center of the process instead of bypassing them. Besides that, we gain extra confidence and credibility from the auditability of the tool. This combination is unique and highly valued.”
How is it to work with Carbon+Alt+Delete
Over the past year, Moore Belgium has embedded Carbon+Alt+Delete into its services. “The software evolves quickly. Features like updated databases, dashboards, and assumptions support help us provide better insights. There’s still room for improvement in reporting and product carbon footprints, but the pace of innovation within their software is encouraging,” Vanessa says.
Clients also value the transparency within the tool: “No black box. They see how assumptions are made, which helps them understand where they can reduce emissions and even gain competitive advantage.”
The future of carbon accounting with Moore
Looking ahead, Moore Belgium sees carbon accounting as indispensable: “If we want to reach net zero, we need to calculate and account. Climate change is no longer deniable. Our clients must prepare for regulations like eco-design standards, digital product passports, reporting to banks and value chain pressures. Carbon accounting will remain central to compliance and competitiveness.”
Therefore, Moore is strengthening its ESG service offering through partnerships with Net Circular and Ngage increasing commitment. “Carbon accounting and CO₂ reduction are here to stay. In Carbon+Alt+Delete we found a partner with the same mindset and urgency, and a great software tool to support our consultants,” Vanessa concludes.
